Anthony Fauci wins Israel’s Dan David $1m prize for ‘defending science’

The U.S.A. high infectious diseases skilled, Anthony Fauci, has been awarded a prestigious $1m (£717,000) Israeli prize for his commitment to science.

Dr Fauci, United Nations agency was usually at odds with former President Trump over a way to handle the pandemic, was given the Dan David Prize for “defending science”.

He was additionally praised for advocating for Covid vaccines, and for his leadership on HIV analysis and Aids relief.

Dr Fauci, 80, has suggested seven U.S.A. presidents.

He was recognised for “courageously defensive science within the face of uninformed  opposition throughout the difficult Covid crisis”, the awards committee aforementioned during a statement.

He “is the consummate model of leadership and impact publicly health,” it added.
