FBR withdraws arrest warrant for traders: Abdul Razzaq Dawood

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Trade Abdul Razzaq Dawood has announced to withdraw the power to arrest traders from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
On the occasion of his visit to Lahore Chamber, Razzaq Dawood said that Pakistan is focused on becoming a manufacturing hub, trade with Central Asian states is very low, transit trade agreement is going to be signed with Uzbekistan.
He said trade and peace talks were also underway with Afghanistan, which would soon be removed from the FATF’s gray list.
The trade adviser said that the FBR was withdrawing the authority to arrest traders and would discuss other concerns of traders with the finance minister.
On the other hand, President Lahore Chamber Tariq Misbah demanded that FBR’s interference in imports should be stopped completely and commercial importers should be allowed to order goods on advance payment.
