New LNG deal signed with Qatar

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan signed a 10-year new agreement with Qatar on Friday to import two hundred million cube-shaped feet per day (mmcfd) extra liquefied fossil fuel (LNG) at cheaper rate.

Under the deal, West Pakistan can import two hundred mmcfd LNG in 1st year, and amount would be accrued to 400mmcfd within the next 2 years. the govt. says that the worth is thirty first but the LNG deal signed with Qatar in 2015 by the then West Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

The PML-N government had signed the deal for 500mmcfd in 2015 at a rate thirteen.37% of brant goose. However, the present PTI government has signed the agreement at a rate of ten.20% of brant goose for import of two hundred mmcfd LNG.

After the language ceremony, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on crude oil Nadeem Babar aforementioned Qatar would offer LNG at all-time low rate, following thriving joint efforts by the political and military leaderships.

“Today we’ve signed a really necessary agreement with Qatar,” Babar aforementioned, whereas sharing with the media persons the main points of the agreement, that was signed within the presence of Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Prime Minister House.

The 10-year new agreement, starting Jan next year, can deliver at the start 2 ships per month – around two hundred mmcfd – so go up to four ships per month — 400mmcfd. The previous contract was for fifteen years, starting with one ship per month – 100mmcfd – and increasing to 5 ships a month.
